Striped hyenas (HYAENA HYAENA) (HYAENIDAE) also live on"Animals Island". Despite of some likeness with african hunting dogs they are not the relatives. Hyenas have powerful jaws and teeth that can crush the largest bones of cattle. In the wild they prey on sheep, goats, donkeys and horses, sometimes eat vertebrates, insects and fruit.
