Bright and well noticeable colouring of the lionfishs (Pterois radiata) (SCORPAENIDAE), prevents its possible enemies about danger. The rigid and very sharp rays in enlarged fins of lionfishes are supplied with venom gland. Any animal, once being wounded by these "needles", would try to avoid it. The man after pricking his hand by lionfishe feel a sharp pain and sometimes even loose conscious. In the day-time lionfishes are usually inactive. At dusk they leave their shelters. Lionfishes prey on the crabs, shrimps, molluscs and small fish.
