Cebid monkeys (CEBIDAE) are not large, they are very agile jumpers and runners, swinging through trees. Their prehensile tail is used as an additional hand for grasping objects.

These animals are arboreal. They are found in South America, from Honduras up to Brazil. Weeping capuchins (CEBUS NIGRIVITTATUS) form in the wild groups ranging from 10 to 30 individuals. Their food includes fruits, nuts, berries, seeds, flowers and shoots, sometimes insects, eggs, small birds and mammals. Capuchins produce a variety of sounds for communication. These monkeys are vivacious and intelligent and have become the most numerous monkeys in captivity in some countries. In captivity they easily learn to repeat various operations. It is reported that they can wash linen and floor, beat the dust out carpets and even nurse the patients.
