Toco toucan(Ramhastos toco) (RAMPHASTIDAE) is a large bright bird which weight is up to 0,45 kg and body size – up to 0,6 m.
Toucans are the relatives of woodpeckers and live in dense tropical forests of Central and South America, from Guiana to Bolivia and Northern Argentina. The toucan's beak is brightly colored, it is hollow inside and very light. Toco toucan feeds mainly on fruits, which they swallow wholly or wear out by jagged edges of beak. Toco toucans can also eat small animals. They nest in hollow trees. Both parents take part in rearing of nestlings. A clutch consists usually of 1-4 white eggs, and hatching lasts for 16-18 days. The nestlings are featherless and blind and usually they spend in the nest about 6 weeks.
