This building and enclosure around it are occupied by hunting dogs (LYCAON PICTUS) (CANIDAE). They are close relatives of the wolves and resemble them with their long legs and slim body while the coat color and shape of head look similar to those of hyenas. The hunting dogs form large bands to prey on ungulates in African savannah. Social links between animals of one band are complex and stable. Adult dogs rear young together. Hunting dogs have appeared in the collection of Moscow zoo recently and so far we've failed to receive an offspring.
