The inhabitants of the next enclosure of "Animals Island". are very rare Asian lions (PANTHERA LEO PERSICA) (FELIDAE). In historical time this subspecies was found widely in Asia and even in Caucasus. Now it inhabits very restricted forests in India.
Asian lions are classified as endangered by the IUCN and the USDI and are on Appendix 1 of the CITES. The zoos actively cooperate to preserve the species so lion-male has arrived to the Moscow zoo from Finland, and female – from England.

Except for lions, tigers and hyenas There are tow species of bears on "Animals Island". Asiatic black bears (SELENARCTOS THIBETANUS USSURICUS) (URSIDAE) are very agile and bunny. In their enclosure there is rather high tree and they climb it expertly with pleasure. Frequently visitors observe the asiatic black bears on the top of the branching trunk. But a majority of time these animals spend near ditch, communicating with people.
