Мudskippers (Periophtalmus barbarus) (GOBIIDAE) are found in mangroves along seacoasts of tropical zones. They spend much time on the ground and have unique anatomical features for terrestrial activity. Lying on the land they can move leaning on using pectoral fins, and helping themselves with a tail. Preying on insects, they can climb on trees and make short jumps. Besides this they can hold on a vertical surface with the help of the ventral sucker.

During a high tide period mudskippers hunt for insects and other small invertebrates. They breathe, as all fishes with Oxygen dissolved in water, and store water in special cameras in a mouth. They can breathe also through a wet skin, as amphibians. They have good sight both on the land and underwater.
